RESUME
Originally from London, LA-based production designer Nigel Phelps broke into the industry as a concept artist on Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket and Tim Burton’s Batman, the latter of which he also served as art director. From there, Phelps gained his first credit as production designer on Danny Cannon’s Judge Dredd, starring Sylvester Stallone.
Phelps continued to design major blockbusters including Alien: Resurrection for director Jean-Peirre Jeunet, Troy for director Wolfgang Peterson, World War Z for director Marc Forster, and films for director Michael Bay including Pearl Harbor, and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Dark of the Moon. Other credits include Daniel Espinosa’s Life for Columbia Pictures and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales for directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg and Walt Disney Pictures.
Phelp’s ability to realize high-concept fantasy is exemplified in his most recent works: Pokémon: Detective Pikachu for director Rob Letterman and Warner Bros., and Thor: Love and Thunder for director Taika Waititi and Marvel Studios.
